This is Wigmore Vale, the landscape in which we live. It has likely changed little in the thousand years since the castle was founded. Farming and forestry still shape the land and housing seems to cling rather precariously to the hills and valleys but many of the local houses and most of the churches have survived intact for hundreds of years despite the turbulent history of these “Marcher” lands.
